In my youth I "knew of" Sergeant Bill Bainbridge, a graduate of Williamsfield High School, a former POW in WWII, a Knox County pig farmer, and then a career NCO. He went on to create USASMA and many years later I became one of it's many graduates. William Bainbridge later became the fifth Sergeant Major of the ARMY(SMA)....He holds the record for longest tenure in that position.
